SYNOPSIS
After she is drugged and abducted, Jamie (Rachel Nichols, Continuum) awakens to find herself in a concrete bunker where she meets fellow abductee Sabrina (Zoe Bell, Death Proof). Before long the two women discover that they are in a modern-day coliseum, where they and 48 other women have been selected to fight to the death in order to save both themselves and their loved ones. Co-starring genre favorites Doug Jones (Hellboy) and Sherilyn Fenn (Twin Peaks), director Josh C. Waller s RAZE is a no-holds-barred assault on the senses featuring some of the most brutal action combat ever put on film. In this contest, may the best woman win.
REVIEWS
- The New York Times: If you can stand to watch this movie - a big if - there is food for thought here about the subjugation and exploitation of women, the limits of psychological and physical endurance, and more.
- Latimes.com: "Raze" is a sweaty, queasy, bruising experience — and a superbly crafted film. With a few short brushstrokes, Robert Beaucage's unsentimental script makes people out of its female characters while building to a satisfying, somewhat surprising climax.
- RogerEbert.com: Bell's performance is the best reason to see "Raze." She's just right as Sabrina, a strong-silent type in Steve McQueen-Clint Eastwood mode. The character mangles adversaries with her fists, feet, forehead and thumbs, but Bell's most fascinating moments are quiet ones where you watch her Hellenic face in close-up, thinking.
- Examiner.com: A fresh twist Tarantino would definitely approve of. Through it all, Zoe Bell stands out as Sabrina, mean as sh*t but vulnerable when called upon. It's a remarkable performance Raze builds on as it punches and kicks its way into inevitable cult status.
- 1nfluxmagazine.com: You will have a lot of fun with Raze. Zoë Bell, in particular, gives a strong performance, both emotionally and physically, and I, for one, am glad to see her step more and more into the spotlight.
- Blu-ray.com: A convincing dark ride of aggression and revenge, with an exciting third act that finds Sabrina aware of a possible option for escape.
- Fearnet.com: A kinetic, brutal, occasionally punishing, and sometimes visually impressive piece of low-budget action mayhem.
- SlantMagazine.com: the main attraction is Bell, a beauty with ferocity in her eyes and brutality in her fists who ultimately proves a ferocious figure of feminine rage.
